There was some beautiful weather in NJ this afternoon, and it inspired us to BBQ. Well, sort of BBQ…on the electric grill in the kitchen. 🙂 But the thought was there. We picked up some early corn on the cob and fresh asparagus and went to town. Here is the recipe we use for burgers. You can actually do this with either turkey or beef. They are equally delicious.
Our Favorite Hamburger Recipe
1 pound ground beef or turkey
1 onion, chopped
1 slice white bread
2 Tbsp milk
1 Tbsp or so of Worcestershire sauce (thank goodness for spell check, never would have gotten that right)
1 egg, beaten
Salt & Pepper to taste
Put meat and onion in bowl and combine gently. Rip up bread and soften with milk. Combine into a paste. Add to meat mixture along with Worcestershire sauce, egg, and salt & pepper. Combine gently.
Shape into 4 patties. Grill until done.
We served these tonight on these very thin whole grain sandwich rolls I bought, and they were awesome. We topped them with grilled onions, cheese, tomatoes, baby spinach, and pickles. YUM!
On the side we had the boiled corn, with nothing on it, and grilled asparagus seasoned with olive oil, lemon juice, salt & pepper. A perfect BBQ!
